Happy Paws Happy hearts (HPHH) is a national organisation that Aims to connect socially isolated people with fury friends. HPHH has created in-shelter & online programs that are designed to allow individuals to be creative, have fun and learn new things all whilst giving back to animals that are in need. These programs allow participants to gain and/or further a range of skills such as;

-Communication and language development

-Everyday life skills-Increased independence

-Responsibility and community

-Fine and gross motor skills

-Task modelling and completion

-Psychological wellbeing

–Reduced risk of mental health issues and anxiety around other people

-Higher Levels of physical/emotional wellbeing

-Greater confidence to learn new things

-Greater confidence in themselves

-Better employment and return to life prospects

-Connection with others and their communities

 

HPHH in Neath is run through the Hunter Valley Animal Facility and Rehoming Centre. They have a range of animals in their shelter that are needing our help so they can grow to be happy and healthy for their new owners!! Many of the dogs and cats in this shelter have been living in kennels their whole lives. As happy and excited they may seem when you see them, these animals spend almost all their time in their 4-wall kennels. Which I’m sure you can imagine would not be very exciting for our fury friends. But, this is where we can help! Enrichment is the action of improving or enhancing the quality or value of something. Enrichment is extremely important for these adorable animals. Our aim is to work with the kids to make food & toys that will help to give enrichment to these animals.
